Description

The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) is seeking the services of an experienced design
consultant or team to develop a site-specific design for a 'Mourners Shelter’ within the Whistler
Cemetery, located at 5801 Alta Lake Road. This project seeks to provide a contemplative,
precipitation protected, respectful space for mourners to gather before or after funerals and burials.
The RMOW aims to create a modest yet meaningful structure that enhances the emotional wellbeing
of users while being sensitive to the surrounding landscape and Whistler’s mountain identity.
The RMOW strives to deliver creative and unique experiences through design of infrastructure and
landscapes for our residents and visitors alike while minimizing long-term costs of maintenance.
