Description
Requirement
Bathrooms in located in Building 143, 4th floor, area J (commonly referred to as 4J) require modification to prevent water from flowing outside of the shower area and ultimately flowing or being tracked outside of the bathroom. An unsafe condition exists and requires a constructive solution.
Solution
The engineered solution will renovate the 20 bathrooms in Building 143, 4th floor, Area J by demolishing the entire existing flooring in each bathroom. The existing shower area, which is a sub area with the bathroom, attempted to contain and control shower water via a curtain and an accessible threshold/barrier surrounding the sloped shower base. However, water that inevitably escapes the shower area has no path to drainage and ultimately is tracked onto the room flooring creating a dangerous condition. The engineered solution is to demolish all existing interior floor tile finishes, shower threshold and provide a new threshold/barrier free tile installation that provides positive consistent drainage from every corner to the bathroom. To achieve this the existing concrete slab shall be ground and leveled as necessary to enable the finish floor to drain properly to the existing drain location. All demolished materials and debris shall be removed, surfaces prepped to receive new leveling and finishes as shown and described in the drawings.
Contractor shall provide all applicable oversight, quality control and work area controls as required in the attached specifications.
Schedule
Completion of work is expected within 120 days of NTP
