Title: Dock St. Pump Station Upgrades - ARPA
Addenda: 0
Release Date: 4/23/2025
Due Date: 5/22/2025
The City of Richmond, Virginia (the “City), on behalf of the Department of Public Utilities (“DPU”), seeks bids from qualified firms to furnish and deliver general contracting services to include general, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control, and other specialties at the Dock Street Pump Station (the “Project”).
The Dock Street Pump Station was designed by the USACE and constructed in 1990 as part of the downtown floodwall protection facilities. The pump station pumps sanitary and combined sewer flow from the Shockoe Box Sewer through the floodwall to the East Diversion Structure when water levels in the East and West Diversion Structures are elevated during wet weather events. The pump station has been in continuous service for over 30 years and has experienced interior flooding during Tropical Storm Gaston in 2004.
The City has experienced problems with the automatic transfer switch (ATS) for the dual electrical feeds during loss of phase or low voltage conditions. The 480V electrical system at Dock Street Pump Station including the switchgear, motor starters and pump control panel has reached its useful service life and is need of replacement.
