Description



The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) has a need to purchase a new CEAD Flexbot additive manufacturing robotic system with the below specifications:



• Siemans PLC



• Industrial Robot Arm with Payload of 165 kg and 3.0 m reach



• Pellet Dryer and Feeding system that can maintain the max extrusion rate (55 lb /hr) with a capacity of 200 Lt



• Compatible Nozzle Set for Extruder System



• Build Volume / Print Area of 4m x 2m x 2.5 m including




  • Turn-key fully integrated safety caging with clear polycarbonate sheets

  • All required motors, gearbox, and cabling



• Software machine kit which creates a dedicated digital twin environment which can be integrated into the selected slicing software: Adaxis AdaOne



• User interface of CNC SINUMERIK control system with all functionalities, including the extruder and CNC operations



• Documentation detailing operation instruction, maintenance tasks, and spare parts lists



• CNC Finishing Functionality including




  • 5 axis CNC milling spindle system and spindle holder station

  • Extruder compatible mount for extruder parking during CNC operation

  • Automatic Tool magazine for CNC spindle that can hold 16 tools

  • Print Bed clamping required accessories for stability and precision during machining

  • CNC Milling Toolbox package including: HSK63-F Toolholder solid end-mill HSK63-F Toolholder ball-noseHSK63-F Large cutter Heads with replaceable cutters





Acceptance Testing, Installation, Calibration, and On-site training for ERDC on additive and subtractive capabilities is also required for this requirement.



The Flexbot system manufactured by CEAD has been determined to be the only company and system currently available that meets the required needs to maintain continuity of ongoing and previous research efforts. This specific equipment is manufactured solely by CEAD TOP HOLDING B.V. To support these needs, the Government intends to award a firm-fixed price contract, to CEAD TOP HOLDING B.V. (Cage Code: H2RS7), on a sole source basis pursuant to FAR 13.5 for the required CEAD Flexbot and installation. CEAD TOP HOLDING B.V. is the only company capable of meeting the government’s unique requirement and capable of providing the system.

CEAD TOP HOLDING B.V. is a is a large business concern under the applicable North American Industrial Classification System Code (NAICS) code 334519 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing). This notice of intent is for information purposes only.





This notice is not a request for competitive quotes or proposals. A solicitation will not be issued. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency. The information submitted must be provided in sufficient detail to demonstrate the vendor’s ability to fulfill this requirement. The contractor must also provide a description of their past experience in fulfilling requirements which are the same or similar to this requirement and references for each.





Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Responses to this requirement may be submitted to David Ammermann at David.G.Ammermann@usace.army.mil AND Jennifer Hoben at Jennifer.Hoben@usace.army.mil. The solicitation number shall be included in the subject line of the e-mail submission. Responses must be received no later than 1:00 PM CST 20 June 2025.
