The Department of Public Safety’s Office of Justice Programs division (“OJP”) intends to purchase two (2) “Learning from Place” private Bdote trips through the Minnesota Humanities Center (“MHC”) for its staff.
The Learning from Place: Bdote is coordinated by the Minnesota Humanities Center and is the only training opportunity of its kind available in Minnesota. It is a full-day, immersive, place-based experience led by Dakota community members at sites of deep significance along the Bdote — where the Ȟaȟáwakpa (Mississippi River) and Mnísota Wakpá (Minnesota River) meet, and in the surrounding area that has long been home, a gathering place, and a source of life for Dakota people. Participants learn through story and reflection, engaging with both historical events and contemporary Dakota perspectives often left out of dominant narratives about Minnesota’s past.
OJP has deemed this to be a single source procurement as this unique, place-based, and immersive training opportunity led by Dakota community member educators is only available through MHC.
If there are any concerns regarding this single source opportunity, you must contact Eric Ray via email at eric.ray@state.mn.us by September 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM Central Time. Include the reference number and title of the posting in the subject line.
