Bid opening date changed from 9/15/26 to 9/17/26 at 10 AM.
Question: Specifications page 10 of 13 line 5 calls out a post tension slab and
10-gauge wire mesh please provide post tension design. Note that installing
these slabs requires special hydraulic jacks, engineered designs, and trained
crews. Please provide engineered drawing detailing post-tensioning design.
Original Answer provided 9/2/26: The post-tension cables shall conform to
requirements of the 2019 NJDOT Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridge
Construction. Contractor shall submit to the Township for review/approval and
adhere to the following:
a. Tendon: 1/2-in. diameter, 7-wire, low-relaxation strand per ASTM A
416 Grade 270
b. Strand: 270 ksi
c. Effective prestress: 125-200 psi
d. Tendon spacing: 24 in. each way
e. Edge/boundary tendons: additional reinforcement/post-tension back
up bar around perimeters
f. Local strengthening: required at corners
g. Anchors/flat plates shall be installed for load distribution and
anchors shall be compatible with the tie rod system, galvanized per
ASTM A 123.
h. Strands shall be trimmed, ends sealed, and conduit shall be clean
and grouted following tensioning.
Modified Answer: Due to feedback from numerous bidders, the manufacturer
was consulted. A post-tension cabling system is NO LONGER a requirement.
Reinforcement shall be wire mesh.
