Objective:
Madison County Community Development is seeking qualified contractors with
residential construction experience who hold the necessary qualifications and licensing
to perform the Scopes of Work as detailed in this bid request. There are two projects in
this “Bid Request” (Bundle #0004). To be awarded the contract, you must submit an
itemized bid for all projects listed below with a total bid amount. Please include a total
amount for all bids in your submission.
Program Overview:
Madison County receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from
the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on an annual basis. The
Housing Rehabilitation Program provides funds to low- and moderate-income residents
throughout the county. The program is for owner-occupied households that meet the
income requirements and are up to date on their property taxes and utilities.

PROJECT 1: 1130 Easton St, Alton, IL 62002
Scope of Work: Walk-in Shower
Removal
Disconnect existing bath fixtures in the current tub.
Remove existing bathtub, dispose of it correctly.
Demolish walls in tub area to expose studs and subflooring.
Remove existing subflooring and replace it with new subflooring.
Remove all old protruding nails from exposed studs. (Clean the studs)
Remove the existing linoleum floor only from the bathroom and replace it with
water-resistant flooring, preferably laminated flooring.
Remove all existing tiles and dispose of them correctly (tiles are not to be re-
used)
Installation
Install blocking on front and side of shower to install 2 grab handlebars. (2
grab handlebars).
Reframe shower area to fit new Plastic walk-in shower with a sitting kit and
dimensions to fit in a 59 INCH Length and 31 INCH depth. (Suggested shower
brands are Sterling, Kohler, American standard, and Dreamline.)
Install moisture resistance drywall (greenboard).
Install a new bathroom exhaust fan and make sure it vents to the outside and
not in the attic.
Install a new towel rack, Preferably Ring design for space purposes.
New bathroom fixtures style and color are to be selected by homeowners after
the contractor shows them what’s in stock.
Install a new shower rod to hang the shower curtain.
Paint color will also be selected by the client after the contractor shows them
the different paint color options for just the bathroom.
Install a shut-off valve in the basement.

Walk-In Shower Scope of Work:
*Note: The bathroom is on the small side with a width of less than 6ft.
o Walk-in Shower:
- Disconnect bath fixtures, cabinetry and other finishings as required
- Remove existing bathtub, dispose of it correctly
- Reframe shower area to fit new walk-in shower, window can be blocked off
homeowner is okey with window being blocked off.
- Remove sub floor as required to route new plumbing
- Frame partition walls for new walk-in shower
- Locate studs where grab bars can be installed
- Install all blocking and Nailers as required.
- Install wiring for a new ventilation fan
- Install a GFCI outlet by the sink basin.
- Install a shut-off in the basement.
o Bathroom floor to ceiling: 8ft
