INTENT

It is the intent of these plans and specifications to provide for a contractor who shall provide all labor, materials, tools and equipment necessary to remove old water meters and reinstall new AMI water metering systems across the City’s water distribution system. It is anticipated that the City of Kalamazoo will complete some of the proposed meter replacements using in-house personnel, with the remainder distributed to the responsive low bid contractor(s).

SCOPE OF WORK

This contract includes, but is not limited to: Direct Mailing appointment notification letters to water customers; maintaining an online scheduling portal; noting residential water services with pressure reducing valves (PRV’s); replacing/installing valves before and after meters as required; taking photos; removing and disposing of old meter system; installing new meter system; coordinating with City billing staff to upload new meter information. All contracted work shall be completed in accordance with the current City of Kalamazoo Standard Specifications for Water Main and Service Construction and the current MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction.

CONTRACT PERIOD AND EXTENSIONS

The contract shall commence on or about May 1, 2026, subject to approval, and shall expire on December 31, 2026.

The City may opt to extend this contract for up to three (3) one (1) year periods. All extensions shall be upon mutual agreement of both parties with all provisions of the original contract or any addenda and extensions remaining in full force and effect.
