Sealed bids will be received by the City of Sioux City, City in the City Purchasing Office located on Fourth Floor in City Hall, 405 Sixth Street, in Sioux City Iowa, until 3:00 P.M., Local Time, April 24, 2025, for the construction of the project, as described in the construction documents. The project is located at the Tyson Events Center, 401 Gordon Drive and includes the replacement of a portion of the exterior lighting at the south façade of the Tyson Events Center with new color changing lighting and associated controls. The existing Tyson Events Center roof heat tape system at the eastern side of the roof will be replaced with a new ice melt / heat tape system.
Bids received will be opened and tabulated at a public meeting, presided over by City Staff, in the Purchasing Office, City Hall, Room 408, at 3:00 P.M., Local Time, on April 24, 2025. Thereafter, bids will be acted upon by the City Council at such time and place as may be fixed.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on April 17, 2025 at 2:30 P.M. at the Tyson Events Center, 401 Gordon Drive. Interested contractors shall meet in the lobby. It is strongly recommended that interested contractors attend the pre-bid meeting, and/or visit the site prior to bidding.
Each bid must be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a bid bond, a cashier’s check or certified check of an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the laws of the United States, or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States, in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Sioux City, Iowa. The check or draft may be cashed by the City Treasurer as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract within the ten (10) days after notice of award and post bond satisfactory to the City ensuring the faithful fulfillment of the contract.
The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder. However, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, readvertise for new bids and to waive informalities that may be in the best interest of the City. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the state of Iowa and to Iowa domestic labor.
The work on this project shall begin upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed and be fully completed by August 22, 2025.
