Description

  1. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), through the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), has a requirement to obtain a replacement ultraviolet transilluminator and imaging system for use by the Liver Diseases Branch (LDB). The existing imaging system is no longer operational and cannot be repaired. This equipment is required to support ongoing laboratory research activities that study liver diseases and viral infections. The equipment is used to visualize and document biological samples during routine laboratory experiments. These experiments support federally funded research that aims to better understand viral infections and identify potential treatments. Without a functioning imaging system, researchers will not be able to properly analyze experimental results, which would delay ongoing research activities. NIH serves as the requiring federal agency, NIDDK is the sponsoring organization, and the requirement supports the research mission of the LDB
