The City of Meriden Fire Department is seeking proposals from qualified medical professionals or healthcare organizations for the administration and execution of comprehensive cancer screening services for its firefighters. In 2022, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified firefighting as a Group 1 Carcinogenic Occupation due to increased rates of cancer diagnosis and mortality among firefighters.
