The Texas Board of Nursing (the “Board” or “BON”), throughthe use of this Request for Proposals (“RFP”), is soliciting proposals(“Proposals”) from qualified programs that are certified by the Texas Healthand Human Services Commission to provide peer assistance services (“Respondent”or “Program”). The Respondent must be an approved Program under TexasHealth and Safety Code Chapter 467 and Title 26 Texas Administrative CodeChapter 8. Failure to obtain this certification will automatically disqualifythe Respondent.
The selected Respondent (the “Contractor”) will providestatewide services to nurses licensed to practice in Texas whose practice maybe impaired by chemical dependency, certain mental illnesses, or diminishedmental capacity. Respondents must be able to meet all requirements and criterialisted in this RFP and all relevant laws and rules governing peer assistanceprograms.
Historically, the Board has received approximately 200referrals of nurses to the peer assistance program per fiscal quarter,approximately 50 participation agreements signed by nurses to enter into thepeer assistance program per fiscal quarter, approximately 620 active cases onnurses participating in the peer assistance program per fiscal quarter, andapproximately 50 nurse participant completions per fiscal quarter.
This RFP and a resulting contract are contingent upon theavailability of appropriated funds, as set out by the Texas GeneralAppropriations Act, 88 th Legislature.
