Legionella Testing Lab Services 2026-27
Scope of Services:
It is the intent of the City of Columbus, Division of Water, to obtain bids for professional laboratory
services to analyze water samples for Legionella spp. using the spread plate culture method, including
an additional presumptive or definitive confirmation/identification process to confirm the presence of
Legionella.
Quantity Estimate:
The quantity estimate is for nine (9) samples per quarter. An indefinite quantity of follow-up samples
may be required, based on the initial test results. The City of Columbus will be responsible for sampling,
as well as outbound freight costs. The sample matrix will include source water as well as treated
drinking water. Multiple purchase orders may be issued, with the combined total not to exceed
$50,000.00
Required Experience:
The bidding laboratory must be approved by the Centers for Disease Control through the Environmental
Legionella Isolation Techniques Evaluation (ELITE) Program and listed on the ELITE Program Member List
(https://wwwn.cdc.gov/elite/Public/MemberList.aspx).
Bidding Instructions:
Line Item 1 - Please put $1.00 for the amount, so the system will create a blanket Purchase Order
Line Item 2 - Please put $1.00 for the amount, so the system will create a blanket Purchase Order.
Line Item 3 - Cost per sample, to analyze for Legionella spp. by spread plate method, with an additional
presumptive or definitive confirmation/identification process to confirm the presence of Legionella. This
testing will be made available to the City at the pricing submitted through 12/31/2027.
