Corrosion Control Evaluation Service 2026/27
Scope of Services:
The City of Columbus has a need for testing used to evaluate the corrosion control strategies
implemented by the Division of Water to comply with rules 3745-81-80 through 3745-81-90 of the Ohio
Administrative Code.
This testing helps to detect changes in corrosion and protect the 3600 miles of drinking water
distribution mains across the City, as well as helps us comply with USEPA's Lead and Copper Rule.
Because the test is sensitive and the results are compared across multiple years to evaluate treatment
changes and upgrades at the water plants, as well as changes in operations and assets in the distribution
system it is important to use the same contractor to provide and evaluate the corrosion materials each
year. Therefore, the winning bidder must use Metal Samples (a Division of Alabama Specialty
Products, Inc.) to supply the materials as well as perform the cleaning and analysis of the materials.
Shipping of materials shall be directly to/from Metal Samples. The City of Columbus will pay all
shipping.
