Description View Changes

Amendment 1 (posted 4/20/2026): The purpose of this amendment is to make the following changes:



1. Disregard the custom sheltered entrances on sheet G-02 of the plans.



2. The quantity for item 2 subitem 55202-B2 has been increased to 2300.



3. The quantity for item 3 subitem 55202-O1 has been increased to 450.



4. There will not be a charge for on-site borrow.



5. The due date for quotes is extended to 4/23/2026 at 1700 (5 pm) Alaska time.



Statement of Requirement



This project involves the removal of an existing concrete trail along the Portage Lake lakefront, and construction of a new trail that connects the existing Trail of Blue Ice to the Begich Boggs Visitor Center (BBVC). Additionally, two (2) existing outhouses will be decommissioned, and one (1) new double vault outhouse will be built in a new location.




  1. Option item: Work consists of constructing a scenic outlook platform with interpretive panels by the lakefront.

  2. Option item: Construction of a trail connecting the beach access near the building to the parking lot.



Project work will include demolition, earthwork, clearing and grubbing, small concrete structures, retaining wall installation, drainage, trail switchbacks, trail surfacing, outhouse installation, erosion control measures and re-seeding.



Period of performance: 6/1/2026 to 10/31/2027.



The project is located at the Begich Boggs Visitor Center in Portage Valley, Alaska. Latitude: 60°47'4.52"N, Longitude: 148°50'28.47"W.
