Title: McIntosh Power Plant Site Stormwater Modifications
Addenda: 1
Release Date: 5/20/2026
Due Date: 7/13/2026
The purpose of this project is for modifications and removal of existing site conditions and construction of a new storm water management system McIntosh Power Plant. The project includes removal of pavement and infrastructure, site grading, and construction of two new stormwater retention ponds for areas that previously held Units 1, 2, and 3 and the Coal Yard at the McIntosh Power Plant. These two ponds are referred to as the "West Pond" and "Admin Pond" for the purposes of this project. Existing surface waters ponds within the project area will be altered, new outfalls will be installed, and riprap revetments will be installed to ensure no scouring or erosion will occur.
The McIntosh Power Plant and associated facilities are located on a 530-acre property at 3030 East Lake Parker Drive in Lakeland, Polk County, Florida. The MPP facility has generation capacity consisting of multiple units including two diesel peaking units, two simple cycle combustion turbines, six reciprocating engines and a combined cycle natural gas unit (Unit No. 5). The southern section of the facility previously held additional generating unit (units 1, 2, and 3) which have since been retired and demolished. The overall stormwater management system subsequently requires significant modification as a result of these changes, not all of which are covered by this project. For the first phase of this project an Environmental Resource Permit was obtained to build two new stormwater retention ponds. The construction of these ponds and their associated features are the scope of this project.
