Statement of Purpose:

The City of Hibbing is seeking proposals from qualified exhibit production and installation firms to fabricate and install the exhibition components for the newly designed Hull Rust Mine View Visitor Center. The final design package has been completed by the Science Museum of Minnesota and outlines detailed exhibition specifications for two gallery buildings situated at the historic mine overlook site on 411 McKinley St, Hibbing, MN.

Project Overview:

The Hull Rust Mine View will feature:

  • Two major exhibit galleries (Main Gallery and Maps & Geology Gallery).
  • Dramatic views of the open-pit mine.
  • Interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.
  • Historical and cultural stories of Hibbing, mining, immigration, Ojibwe communities, and Iron Range life.

Exhibit Space: Approx. 5,000 sq. ft. total across two buildings. Construction Schedule:

  • Fabrication Start: Late summer to early fall 2025.
  • On-Site Installation: April 2026 or sooner.
  • Completion Date and Public Opening: May 1, 2026

  • Deadline for Questions: 11:00am, July 23, 2025
  • Proposal Due: 11:00am CST, July 28th, 2025
  • Review Period: July 28-August 1, 2025
  • Firm Notified: August 8, 2025
  • Contract Finalization: Week of August 11th, 2025

Maximum 20 pages (excluding cover, back, dividers) - Numbered pages, font no smaller than 10 pt - 1 electronic copy if emailed and 3 hard copies if delivered.
