Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is soliciting qualifications from consultant teams to provide on call support for SPU’s five-year Data Modernization Initiative. SPU seeks multidisciplinary teams with expertise in data platform assessment and selection, strategic planning, program and project management, business intelligence and analytics, data science, data governance, organizational change management, and technical implementation.
SPU is undertaking a utility‑wide transformation to modernize how data is managed, governed, and leveraged across its water, wastewater, drainage, and solid waste services. This initiative is essential to advancing the priorities outlined in SPU’s 2025–2030 Strategic Business Plan and the Shape Our Water Community Vision.
SPU currently relies on multiple legacy systems—including Maximo, Oracle Financials, SCADA, and CCB—that operate in silos with limited integration. These fragmented systems constrain SPU’s ability to maintain data quality, generate enterprise insights, and support consistent, datadriven decisionmaking. The Data Modernization Initiative aims to address these challenges by establishing a cohesive, integrated, and futureready data environment.
