Scope/ Performance of Work/ Experienced Contractors: Volusia County is seeking the services of a State of Florida Certified General or Building Contractor to provide and pay for building permit (includes impact fees); and construct improvements to the site consisting of sitework, amenities and entrance ways. The amenities include: Prefabricated open air pavilions, dock with ADA kayak launch, bat house, prefab restroom building and observation tower. The project also includes stamped concrete sidewalks, gravel drive and parking, concrete paved and striped ADA parking, power and water well. The work also includes signage and site furniture. The site furniture will require assembly on-site by a carpenter. Contractor's Operations shall comply with all permit conditions. Special attention is given to the Environmental Resource Conditions attached. The construction includes, but is not limited to:
The bidder shall list in his/ her bid submittal on the subcontractor form who will be performing each discipline of construction systems 1) thru 20), listed above and provide documentation of similar experience with references, professional license and insurance. Bidders should indicate in their submittal that Contractor has experience building wooden two story coastal or park structures; and experience building dock structures.
Existing Conditions: The wooded preserve site is in a natural state. Select trees are to be removed. Trees to remain are in close proximity to the proposed building footprints. So, special care will need to be taken to protect the trees and conservation areas per the tree protection plan contained in the construction documents. A licensed arborist shall be employed to prune back and protect the historic tree during construction and ensure its livelihood at final completion of the project.
Temporary Facilities & Controls: A construction fence is not required. A construction trailer is not required. All temporary facilities to be provided by contractor. There is no water service to the site. There is power service to the site. Hours of construction would be sunrise to sunset. Work is generally Monday through Friday. Weekend work will be allowed with the exception of concrete pours, setting piles or anything that conceals the work.
Independent Material Testing and Threshold Inspection: Services will be provided by County vendor, Universal Engineering Sciences. The Contractor is to closely coordinate the work and required testing and inspections with Universal.
Background: Volusia County intends to construct vertical and site construction improvements to an approximately 4.43-acre existing nature preserve located at 3234 North Dixie Freeway (US-1), New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The site is across the street from the south entrance of Sleepy Hollow Road.
