Project Description: SCOPE: The Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC), the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Erie and Niagara Counties, in partnership with the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA), the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), as part of a collaborative multi-agency initiative, will conduct a Planning and Environmental Linkages (PEL) Study. Aligning with public reference to the area, the study will be titled accordingly as the I-90 and I-290 Blue Water Tower Interchange Improvement PEL Study. This is reflective of the Exit 50 interchange of I-90 and I-290 and encompasses connections with Main Street to the north and the Kensington Expressway (NY-33) to the south.
