The City of Vista is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide weed abatement and fire fuel reduction services, including mowing, debris removal, and related activities to mitigate fire hazards. The selected contractor will be responsible for maintaining designated parcels within the city limits in compliance with local fire safety regulations
The City is seeking a qualified vendor to provide the following as-needed non-professional services:
1. Weed Abatement Services
Mowing and clearing vegetation on parcels as specified in the bid schedule.
Maintaining compliance with fire code regulations regarding defensible space and overgrown vegetation removal.
2. Fire Fuel Reduction Services
Clearing fire-prone vegetation, including removal of dead or dry brush, tree limbs, and debris.
Removal of palm fronds, overhanging tree limbs, and ladder fuels that may contribute to fire spread.
3. Waste & Debris Removal
Hauling away and disposing of debris, vegetation clippings, and combustible materials.
Ensuring proper waste disposal at approved facilities.
4. Equipment & Labor
Providing skilled operators and necessary equipment, including tractors, mowers, chainsaws, boom trucks, and hand tools.
Performing manual weed abatement, when necessary, particularly in areas inaccessible to machinery.
5. Chemical Spraying
Spraying Pre- and Post-emergent Herbicides.
No use of Glyphosate or Dithiopyr products (City is currently using Cheetah Pro and AXXE).
The vendor must supply all chemicals and PPE.
The vendor must get pre-approval from City prior to spraying.
Site to be sprayed must be posted 24 hours prior to application and remain posted for 24-hours post application.
Applicator must be licensed or have completed annual Pesticide Handlers Training.
6. Locations
See Attachment C for potential sites to provide service.
Upon request, the Contractor will service other City properties not listed in Attachment C.
Upon City Council approval, Contractor will provide weed abatement services for fire purposes on private proprieties that have been deemed a public nuisance.
7. Administrative
Contractor will supply City with detailed Monthly invoices.
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations.
Working hours are from 7am to 4pm.
