Eddy 24/25 Timber Sale

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Florida Forest Service is seeking sealed bids for the sale of timber. This is a fourth-row thinning with logger select of approximately 270 acres of 24- to 27-year-old planted slash pine in two areas on John M. Bethea State Forest (SFI Certified Forest #NSF-SFI-FM-C0245755) in Baker County, Florida (see attached maps). Area 1 is approximately 134 acres in size and Area 2 is approximately 136 acres in size. Timber to be removed includes every fourth row and select trees in remaining rows to reach a target basal area of 60 square feet per acre. Timber to be removed in select rows will be harvested based on the following criteria: diseased, damaged, defective, forked, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired basal area. Leave trees should be evenly spaced throughout the sale area. The target basal area per acre and/or number of trees per acre can be adjusted by the Forester-in-Charge as needed due to variations in stand and site conditions. Sale boundaries are marked property boundaries, roads, firelines, or wetlands. Decks and skid trails are designated with blue paint on all blocks to be thinned. Property boundary trees are marked with white bands or property signs and are not to be harvested or damaged. Estimated volumes to be removed are 15,649 tons of pine pulpwood and 2,337 tons of pine chip-n-saw and better. This sale contract will be for twelve (12) months. Interested parties may obtain complete bid information by contacting Garrett Henderson at (904) 259-2157.

The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularity in bids received.
