MADISON HOSE COMPANY #1

SERVICE:
CHASSIS SERVICE:
Perform a complete chassis service and inspection on the apparatus. The ten (10) wheels of the
apparatus will be pulled and the brakes will be inspected and measured.
Please provide your complete service and inspection details with your proposal to ensure all
systems are performed.
* Any additional service or chassis defects discovered during inspection will be listed and
an additional quote will be provided to the customer prior to any additional work
performed.
* An allowance of 5,000 will be included in the bid for chassis service
CHASSIS FRAME:
An inspection of the apparatus chassis frame rails, water tank cradle, chassis air tanks and
brackets, and fuel tank and brackets will be performed and evaluated for corrosion and rust
jacking.
Pictures of any deficiencies will be provided to the customer.
* Any additional defects discovered during inspection of these components will be listed
and an additional quote will be provided to the customer prior to any additional work
performed.
HVAC:
An inspection of the chassis HVAC system will be performed.
* Any repairs discovered during inspection of these components will be listed and an
additional quote will be provided to the customer prior to any additional work
performed.
* An allowance of 5,000 will be included in the bid for HVAC work
RADIATOR:
Remove and replace the chassis radiator with a new radiator.
PUMP SERVICE:
Perform a compete pump service on the apparatus fire pump.
* Any additional service or value-rebuilt requirements discovered during service will be
listed and an additional quote will be provided to the customer prior to any additional
work performed.
* An allowance of 5,000 will be included in the bid for pump service work
PUMP TEST:
Perform an NFPA pump test on the apparatus to ensure the compliance with the rated pump
capacities.
* Any pump testing non-compliance requirements discovered during testing will be listed
and an additional quote will be provided to the customer prior to any additional work
performed.
* An allowance of 2,000 will be included in the bid for pump test compliance work

PUMP PACKINGS:
Remove and replace the pump packings.
* Please provide option to replace the packings with a mechanical seal.
ELECTRIC VALVE REPLACEMENT:
Provide (3) Akron electric valves and controllers to replace the current electric valves. The new
controllers will be mounted on the left side pump operators panel and will be placed where the
old controllers are located.
DUMP VALVES:
Perform a complete service on the current (3) dump valves by removing and checking for any
worn parts or valves.
FABRICATION:
ROLL UP DOORS:
Provide and install four (4) ROM roll up doors in place of the current roll up doors on the
apparatus and match color of body.
DROP DOWN RACKS:
* Service the left side drop down ladder rack replacing the actuators with new and adjust
alignment
* Remove the passenger side drop down tank rack. Use area to store (2) pieces of hard
suction currently on apparatus. These suction hoses will be mounted on a fixed tray.
HOSE STORAGE:
Fabricate and install two house troughs on the right-side compartment cap where the drop-down
tank was removed. Each tray will accommodate as much 3" flat pack and as much 4" flat back
hose as possible. The divider between the two trays will be at approximately the center of the
rear axle. Deployment will be one tray to the rear, and one tray to the front. A flip up top cover
will be installed. The ends will be open with a Velcro strap to hold the hose in the tray.
EXTENDED FRONT BUMPER:
* Remove the current front bumper, sirens, air horns, bumper extensions, and suction
fittings from the apparatus.
* Provide and install new Spartan front bumper extensions to extend the bumper by
approximately 18" and allow the front bumper to accommodate a new hose tray with
100' of 134" hose with a nozzle. (hose & nozzle not supplied)
* Velcro cover straps to secure hose in well.
* Fabricate a new hose tray and gravel shield using the existing front bumper.
* The new gravel shield will wrap around the side of the cab to provide protection and
compensate for the front bumper tails moving forward.
* Re-install the sirens and air horns on the existing front bumper.
* Extend the suction tube and re-install the fittings on the front bumper.
* One (1) 3" front bumper discharge will be supplied and installed. There will be a 3" X 2
12". chicksan chrome plated swivel through the top of the front bumper. It will be

connected to a 3" valve with a 3" high pressure hose. The discharge will be controlled
from the left side pump operator's panel. A discharge from the driver side pump panel
may be used for this discharge on the bumper. There will be a blow-off valve located on
the pump panel to discharge any water from the piping.
* Apparatus will be weighed prior to bumper being installed to verify the apparatus is not
over weight on the front axle.
CAB DOOR HANDLES/GRAB RAILS:
* Provide and install four (4) new chrome cab door handles in place of the current chipped
handles.
* Provide and install four (4) new grab bars with LED backlight and stainless backing scuff
plates in place of the current grab bars at the four entry doors on the apparatus cab.
PAC TRAC:
Provide PAC trac board on the rear interior cab wall for mounting equipment. Mounting
hardware is not included with this board.
ELECTRICAL:
AIR HORN LANYARD:
Provide and install air horn lanyards for the driver and officer seating position.
CAMERAS:
Provide a left, right, and a new rear camera on the apparatus. Location of screen TBD in cab.
SCENE LIGHTING:
* Remove the rear of cab halogen pole scene lights from the apparatus. These lights will
not be replaced and plates to cover the holes and the area will be installed.
* Provide and install two (2) TecNiq K60-WBU0-1 back up lights in place of the current
back up lights in the rear cluster.
* Provide and install two (2) Whelen PCH1 scene lights tilted down on the rear of the body
in place of existing scene lights.
* Remove the four (4) K60 scene lights on the four corners of the side of the body and
replace with Whelen PCH2 lights in place.
* Provide and install Whelen PCH1 scene light on each side of the cab between the doors
in the area of the raised roof. These lights will be controlled by a switch on the dash and
when cab door is open.
* Provide and install fourteen (14) TecNiq E10 ground lights on stainless steel brackets as
ground lights under the perimeter of the apparatus.
* Replace both halogen lights on rear of apparatus under upper warning lights with Pioneer
Micro LED lights.
PUMP GOVERNOR:

Provide a new Fire Research model PumpBoss Max series PBA501-D00 pump governor to
control the fire pump in the apparatus. The governor will need to be compatible with the
Cummins engine in the apparatus and be programed accordingly by the vendor.
ELECRICAL OUTLETS:
Provide and wire two (2) quad outlets run one to drivers rear compartment and the other to the
rear wall of the cab. Each outlet will be powered by the shoreline when the apparatus is plugged
in.
MULTI PLEX PROGRAMING:
* Work with the Madison Hose Company #1 to make adjustments with multiplex screen.
This work will mostly be taking functions out of touch screen and changing them to
switches/dials/buttons.
* Scene lighting controls for driver and officer with switches
* Emergency light switches in headliner in front of driver
* HVAC controls in center of doghouse
* Engine brake to actual switch
NY HOOKS MOUNTING:
Two (2) customer supplied hooks will be mounted one on each side of the rear of the cab in place
of the removed pole lights. Mounting brackets will be supplied by the vendor to mount these
hooks.
MOUNTING ALLOWANCE:
A mounting allowance of $20,000.00 will be included in the bid to be used for reconfiguring and
mounting new tools.
TIRES:
Ten (10) new apparatus tires will be installed on the apparatus. The price will be included in the
bid proposal, but the invoice will be billed directly to the Madison Hose Company #1 from the
tire supplier to receive state contract pricing on the tires. This amount will be deducted from the
final invoice.
SCBA BRACKETS:
Provide and install five (5) new IMMI Smart Dock generation 2 SCBA brackets in place of the
current seat mounted brackets.
CHEVRONS:
Provide and install smooth plating in place of the diamond plate on the rear of the apparatus.
Red/lime green diamond grade 6" alternating chevrons will be installed on the rear of the
apparatus sloping downward at a 45 degree angle from the center line of the apparatus.
WARNING LIGHTS:
* Provide and install two (2) Whelen red/white 600 series Roto Beam mounted in a chrome
trim and installed one on each side of the front cab radius to act as an intersection
clearing light.

* Provide and install four (4) Whelen blue/green Strip Lite to be mounted in the rub rails on
each side of the apparatus in the body rub rails. The lights will be activated when the
master warning lights are on and the apparatus parking brake is activated.
* Provide and install two (2) Whelen 600 series warning light on rear of apparatus. Color
and location TBD.
FLASHLIGHTS:
Provide six (6) new Streamlight Vulcan Clutch flashlights color orange, location of install TBD.
TANK LEVEL LIGHT:
Provide and install a tank level light on front of apparatus at a location TBD.
COMPARTMENT LIGHTING:
* Provide and install two (2) compartment LED strip lighting in all four (4) body
compartments.
* Provide and install LED lighting in place of the current pump panel lighting on the left
and right side of the apparatus.
PIKE POLE STORAGE:
Provide and install four pike pole storage tubes to store four (4) 6 ft hooks. Location TBD.
CONVEX MIRROR:
Provide and install a convex mirror over front officer side corner of cab.
CAB FANS:
Provide and install two (2) cab fans for driver and officer, location TBD to not be in drivers
sight.
HOSE BED COVER:
* Provide and install a new rear hose bed cover. The cover will be installed using a shock
cord design. Chevron striping will be included on the rear flap. Color will be red.
* Provide and install two (2) new crosslay hose bed covers. The covers will be installed
using a shock cord design. Color will be red.
AM/FM RADIO:
Provide and install a new AM/FM/Weather radio to be located in doghouse.
INTERIOR CAB LIGHTING:
Provide and install six (6) in cab LED red/white lighting in place of the current in cab lighting.
**OPTION**:
Provide price for adding three (3) Firetech BG2 lights on driver side/ passenger side body and
rear of apparatus. These would function as warning lights, scene lights, and traffic advisor.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Proposer shall agree to maintain in force at all times during the contract the following minimum
coverages and shall name the Town of Madison & Madison Board of Education as an Additional Insured
on a primary and non-contributory basis to all policies except Workers Compensation and Professional
Liability. All policies should also include a Waiver of Subrogation. Insurance shall be written with
Carriers approved in the State of Connecticut and with a minimum AM Best's Rating of "A-" VIII. In
addition, all Carriers are subject to approval by the Town of Madison & Madison Board of Education.

date is changed, then the expiring policy must be endorsed to extend the reporting period for claims for
the policy in effect during the contract for two (2) years from the completion date.
