Request for Applications (RFA) - Physical Therapist
Ellisville State School is seeking one (1) contractor for the agency to assist the
South Mississippi Regional Center (SMRC) with providing licensed Physical
Therapist services, including evaluations and treatment programs for Persons-
Served of the Agency in Community Homes.
Ellisville State School is a state operated regional program providing
comprehensive services to Persons-Served with intellectual and developmental
disabilities. The program is under the jurisdiction of the Mississippi Board of
Mental Health. Administratively, it is in the Bureau of Intellectual and
Developmental Disabilities division of the Mississippi Department of Mental
Health. Ellisville State School offers services to people in a residential setting and
provides an array of programs and services in the community through the
Community Services System. Ellisville State School serves
approximately 270 people on the main campus and additional persons in the
community. It is the goal of Ellisville State School to provide each Person-Served
with the appropriate services so that each will develop to the maximum of his or
her potential. The program desires through treatment and training to place
each Person-Served in his or her least restrictive environment. This goal is
consistent with state and national policy regarding service programs for persons
with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Contract Worker shall report directly to the Director of Nursing-SMRC.
The term of the contract shall be for one year, beginning November 5, 2026 and
ending June 30, 2027. The rate of pay shall be sixty-five dollars ($65.00) per
hour for up to twenty-eight (28) hours per week, including travel.
The contract may be renewed at the discretion of Ellisville State School for a
period of four (4) successive one-year periods under the same prices, terms, and
conditions as in the original contract. The total number of renewal years permitted
shall not exceed four (4).

Scope of Services
* Provide physical therapy evaluation and treatment programming for Persons-
Served according to FNP and/or physician order.
* Preserve and improve abilities for independent function, such as range of motion,
strength, tolerance, and coordination and activities of daily living; prevent,
insofar as possible, irreducible or progressive disabilities through means such as
the use of orthotic and prosthetic devices, positioning and sensory stimulation.
* Work closely with staff physicians and other medical specialists.
* Evaluate periodically the treatment training process and will use the treatment
training process as the basis for continuation or change in the person served
program when deemed appropriate by the Physical Therapist in conjunction with
each Habilitation Team.
* Provide in-service training on mutually agreed upon topics.
* Perform other duties as deemed appropriate for a Physical Therapist.
* Services provided by the Therapist must meet or exceed the professional
standards established by the applicable governing authority in their profession.
* The Awarded Contract Worker shall be governed by the policies and procedures
of the Agency.
* Physical Therapist will travel to all community homes associated with SMRC.
* The Awarded Contract Worker shall present themselves to the Agency for the
Agency's background check according to the State of Mississippi's required
criminal background check [MS Code 43-11-13 (2025)] prior to contact with
Persons-Served. In addition, this background check shall be administered every
two years.
* The Awarded Contract Worker shall attend a mandatory orientation class prior to
contact with Persons-Served.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess a master's degree from an accredited college or
university in Physical Therapy. And a minimum of 10 years of experience.
