Description:
The LEDC out-sources inmate commissary services, which provides a bank type account for inmate monies and for inmate procurement of articles (such as hygiene products, food, writing material, electronics, clothing, footwear, etc.) not issued regularly as part of the LEDC administrations. The contractor must establish a commissary system that creates and maintains individual inmate accounts.
The purpose of individual inmate commissary accounts is to allow LEDC inmates to maintain monies while they are incarcerated. Commissary is a privilege for inmates and may be restricted as a sanction in inmate disciplinary procedures, medical issues, or due to the inmate’s classification to the Special Housing Unit within the LEDC.
