NOTICE TO BIDDERS

CITY OF NEWTON, IOWA PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Sealed bids for the work comprising the improvement as stated below must be filed before 11:00 am on August 7, 2026, in the office of the Public Works Director, 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA.

Sealed proposals will be opened and bids tabulated at 11:00 am on August 7, 2026, in the Public Works Office, 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA, for consideration by the Newton City Council at its meeting on August 17, 2026; at the Newton City Council Chambers. The City of Newton reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Copies of the contract bid documents and plans are available at no cost from the City of Newton Public Works Office, 303 W 4th St N, Suite 501, Newton, IA.

General Nature of Public Improvement:

2025-02 1st Ave and 12th Street Drainage Improvements – Phase II

This project consists of the installation of approximately 647 linear feet of reinforced concrete box (RCB) storm sewer of varying sizes, along with associated removals and replacements necessary to complete the work. The project also includes approximately 400 linear feet of creek grading and stream restoration. Construction activities will involve storm and sanitary sewer improvements, pavement restoration, traffic control, and erosion control measures.
