Health Care Provider Training Grants

The Wisconsin legislature has authorized the Department of Health Services (DHS) to distribute grants to health care consortia to establish and support
education and training programs for allied health professionals
, and to clinics and hospitals to establish and support
training programs for advanced practice clinicians
. The funding is allocated to support quality education and training opportunities for critical allied health positions and advanced practice clinicians.
Who can apply?

Applicants must be a clinic, hospital, health system, or educational institution. Applications must make clear the site(s) where program training will occur. Individuals are not eligible to apply.

All applicants must have, or obtain prior to contract execution, a Unique Entity ID (UEI) from
sam.gov
and must not be disbarred, suspended, or ineligible.

Prior grant recipients are eligible and encouraged to apply.
What is the funding for?

Grants may support education and training for a wide variety of health professions that provide diagnostic, technical, therapeutic, or direct patient care and support services to a patient.

Grants may be used to expand existing training programs or to develop new training programs.

Grants may be used to support the training of current employees, new hires, or potential employees.

Grants may not be used to support training for physicians, dentists, pharmacists, chiropractors, or podiatrists.
What funding restrictions are there?

This will be a one-year period of performance.

Recipients must match the amount received through the grant (100% match) either in cash or through in-kind funding.

Participants in grant-supported graduate education and training programs must be U.S. citizens, non-citizen U.S. nationals, or foreign nationals who possess visas permitting permanent residence in the U.S. Individuals on temporary student visas shall not participate in education and training programs supported by DHS Health Care Provider Training Grants funds.

Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. central time May 12, 2025.
