Notice of Award for Sole Source Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) PMA-242 IDIQ Contract for GAU-21 .50 Caliber Machine Guns and Required Ancillary Support Equipment

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Direct and Time Sensitive Strike Weapons Program Office (PMA-242), awarded a Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to FN Herstal, under N00019-25-D-0023 on 16 January 2025. This contract is for the procurement of GAU-21 .50 caliber machine guns and the required ancillary support equipment.

This contract was awarded on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements. FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the GAU-21, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce the requirements described herein, in order to satisfy the government’s requirement.
