Release Date: 9/11/2025
Due Date: 9/25/2025
The City of Aurora, Illinois seeks to procure a custom Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) specifically designed for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations in areas that are inaccessible to standard emergency vehicles.
The City of Aurora, Illinois seeks bids for the procurement and custom fabrication of a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) designed specifically for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations in areas inaccessible to standard emergency vehicles. This UTV will enhance response capabilities during special events, emergencies on trails and in parks, disaster situations, and densely populated urban settings.
The UTV will serve as a supplemental response and transport vehicle at large-scale events and mass gatherings. Its compact design provides superior maneuverability compared to full-size ambulances, enabling rapid access through crowds and challenging terrain. The rugged construction ensures reliable operation in off-road, rough terrain, or disaster scenarios. The patient care area will be ergonomically designed to facilitate safe and effective medical care while transporting patients to a standard ambulance. While the vehicle is DOT-compliant and capable of roadway operation, it is intended solely as a supplemental EMS vehicle, not a replacement for ambulances.
This is a custom-built vehicle project. Vendors are expected to design, fabricate, assemble, and test the EMS UTV according to the specifications outlined below. Vendors may propose alternative methods, materials, or technologies that meet or exceed the City’s functional and performance requirements.
