Project Description:
1) Contractor shall field verify all existing conditions prior to bid. Notify Engineer if any discrepancies are found.
2) Damaged deck areas shall be sawcut to produce clean, straight edges with ninety-degree corners. Repair limits shall extend a minimum of six (6) inches beyond the limits of visible deterioration on all sides. All unsound concrete shall be completely removed. Existing reinforcing steel shall be exposed, cleaned, and evaluated in accordance with Special Provisions - Section 680. Reinforcing steel exhibiting section loss beyond allowable limits shall be repaired or replaced using welded splice bars referring to “Reinforcing Bar Welded Repair Splice Detail”.
3) Deck spall repairs, concrete placement, finishing, curing, and surface restoration shall conform to Special Provisions - Section 680 and typical concrete repair detail drawings attached.
4) The Contractor shall be responsible for preparing, submitting, and implementing a clear and complete Traffic Control Plan (TCP).
5) Contractor shall provide necessary best management practices (BMP) for storm water pollution including permits and devices. Contractors shall prevent any debris/dust from entering streams/waters.
6) Contractor must be highly skilled in this type of repair with proof of and in good standing. Work may be performed only between the hours of 8:00 pm and 4:00 am, Monday through Friday, except State Holidays, unless
otherwise approved in writing by the District Engineer.
7) Contractor must possess a valid Classification “A” - General Engineering Contractor license, throughout the duration of the contract.
All removed concrete, reinforcing steel, debris, and waste materials generated by the repair operations shall be properly collected, handled, transported, and disposed of in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Bid price must include all taxes and other costs (i.e. traffic control, BMP, permits, bonds, etc.).
Bond Requirements: All bidders shall be required to include a Performance Bond and a Payment Bond in accordance with HRS §103D-324 upon award of the contract. These bonds must be equal to 100% of the contract price.
Cancellation: This solicitation may be cancelled and any or all bids rejected in whole or in part, without liability to the State, when it is determined to be in the best interest of the State.
All repairs will be performed during night operations allowing for optimal cure times and lane closures.
