Phase 1: Central Pump Station 1 Filter Media Replacement (As Needed) and Misc. Filter Improvements
SCOPE OF WORK
THE PROJECT LOCATION FOR PUMP STATION NO.1 (PS1), ALSO REFERRED TO AS CENTRAL WATER STATION IS 215 WEST STOCKBRIDGE, KALAMAZOO, MI 49001.
THE WORK CONSISTS OF MEDIA REPLACEMENT IN 2 GRAVITY FILTERS EACH WITH 4 FILTER CELLS, FILTER INLET PIPE, VALVE AND ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT. THE WORK ALSO INCLUDES CLEANING AND REPAIRS TO THE UNDERDRAIN SYSTEM AND NOZZLES. ALL OF THE FILTER MEDIA, INLET PIPES, VALVES, AND ACTUATORS WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE FOR THE WORK. HOWEVER, THE CITY MAY DECIDE TO ONLY DO THE WORK FOR SOME FILTERS CELLS, INLET PIPES, VALVES, AND ACTUATORS. FOR THE WORK NOT COMPLETED WILL BE CREDITED BACK TO THE CITY. SEE DRAWINGS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND REQUIREMENTS
This contract includes, but is not limited to: All work as shown on the drawings and described in the specifications for the Phase 1: Central Pump Station 1 Filter Media Replacement (As Needed) and Misc. Filter Improvements Project.
The bidder shall furnish all labor, supervision, supplies, tools, equipment and other means necessary or proper for performing and completing the work. The bidder shall be responsible for the cleaning up of the job site and shall repair or restore all structures and property that may be damaged or disturbed during performance of the work to the satisfaction of the Public Services Department for the City of Kalamazoo.
This site is an active well-field. All equipment shall be kept in leak-free condition. Contractor shall keep a spill kit on site. The City’s draft Spill Contingency Plan for this site is included in these project specifications.
Work may begin within 10-days of Notice to Proceed. Cell 1D media replacement shall be scheduled immediately Notice to Proceed and be completed as soon possible. Only one filter cell shall be out of service at a time. Removal of filter cells from service shall be coordinated with the City. Alternate 1 is a like for like replacement that does not require EGLE PA 399 permitting. Alternative 2 requires EGLE PA 399 permitting and shall not be implemented until the permit is issued. Final completion shall be December 22, 2028.
