Overview
Summary

The County of Greenville is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide general environmental permit compliance and remediation monitoring for landfills. The scope of work will include field and laboratory services associated with the sampling, laboratory analysis, and statistical analysis of groundwater wells and springs. Sampling and laboratory analysis is also needed for storm water and leachate.

The majority of the activities will occur at the following landfill sites:

  • Piedmont Phases I, II, and III
  • Simpsonville Sites 1 and 2
  • Enoree Phases I and II
  • Blackberry Valley
  • Twin Chimneys
Background

The Closed Landfill Monitoring wells are in remote overgrown areas.

The Simpsonville Landfill has been closed and capped with soil. Monitoring includes onsite wells, residential wells and residential crawl spaces.

The Piedmont Landfill is located in southern Greenville County. All phases have been closed and capped with a soil liner. All monitoring is onsite.

The Enoree Landfill is located in eastern Greenville County. Phase I is closed and was capped with a Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL) and one-foot soil liner. Phase II is also closed and was capped with a geosynthetic liner system. The monitoring includes both onsite and offsite wells for groundwater, leachate and methane.

Blackberry Valley Landfill is located in western Greenville County. It is a closed facility with a soil cap. All monitoring is onsite.

Twin Chimneys Landfill is located in southern Greenville County. Monitoring for this site includes groundwater, leachate, and methane. All monitoring will be onsite. Storm water samples will be collected at Twin Chimneys by County personnel in vendor supplied bottles.
