INVITATION TO BID

1. The Town of Southborough, Massachusetts, the awarding authority, will receive sealed bids for the

Selective Overhead Door Replacement at the Southborough Department of Public Works, 147

Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA, in accordance with the Contract Documents prepared by

Raymond T. Guertin, Architects, 125 Leslie Road, Rowley, Massachusetts.

2. The Project consists of: Selective replacement of fifteen (15) existing overhead doors with new steel

sectional overhead doors including all related hardware, electric operators and controls, operating

hardware, tracks, and support as shown on the Drawings and in the Project Manual.

3. The work is estimated to cost: $195,000.00

4. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 § 44A-J and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 § 26

to 27H inclusive.

5. Sealed bids for the General Contract should be sent to the Office of the Select Board, 17 Common

Street, Southborough, MA 01772. The opening will take place in the McAuliffe Meeting Room at the

Southborough Town House, 17 Common Street, Southborough, MA 01772 until 12 PM on

Wednesday, September 16, 2026 after which time all bids will be opened and read aloud.

6. Plans and Specifications may be obtained electronically from the town of Southborough by contacting

Sue Wood: swood@southboroughma.gov on August 26, 2026 or later.

7. Every general bid shall be accompanied by a bid bond, or certified check or treasurer's or cashier's

check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the Town of Southborough, in the

amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount.

8. The documents, including the General Bid, the Bid Deposit, the Certificate of Eligibility and the Update

Statement (for General Bids), shall be enclosed in envelopes (outer and inner) both of which shall be

sealed and clearly labeled with the words "BID DOCUMENTS SUBMITTED BY (Bidder's name)

SELECTIVE OVERHEAD DOOR REPLACEMENT AT THE SOUTHBOROUGH DEPARTMENT OF

PUBLIC WORKS AT 147 CORDAVILLE ROAD IN THE TOWN OF SOUTHBOROUGH,

MASSACHUSETTS 01772 (Date Submitted)", in order to guard against premature opening of the Bid.

9. A pre-bid conference shall commence at the Southborough Department of Public Works at 147

Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10 AM at which time the

job site will be made available for inspection.

10. The successful General Bidder will be required to furnish a 100% Payment Bond and 100%

Performance Bond as set forth in the specifications; each bond executed in the full amount of the

Contract Price.

11. The Awarding Authority reserves the right to reject any or all bids, if it be in the public interest to do so,

or if it determines that such bid does not represent the bid of a person, firm or organization competent

to perform the work as specified.

12. Minimum wages to be paid on the work of the project are established by a Schedule issued by the

Commissioner of Labor and Industries, a copy of which is contained in the Contract Documents and

will be made a part of the Contract.

13. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days, Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays

excluded, after receipt of award, without written consent by the Town of Southborough.

14. The Town of Southborough is exempt from sales tax, for which reason, bidders should not include

sales tax in figuring or in reference to any bid.

15. Contract award subject to funding approval.
