Request for Proposal for San Miguel County Road 58P Retaining Wall ConstructionRequest for Proposal
San Miguel County is requesting proposals for the design and construction of a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall on a portion of County Road (CR) 58P located north of the Town of Sawpit, Colorado.
Background
San Miguel County is seeking qualified contractors to design and construct a mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall to stabilize a roadway embankment along CR 58P. The project area includes existing infrastructure such as guardrail and utilities, which must be considered during design and construction.
Due to site constraints, minimizing disturbance and material loss is a priority. The selected solution should provide long-term roadway stability while maintaining a low-profile wall design.
Scope of Work and Devlierables

-
Design of a mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) retaining wall system
-
Construction of a low-profile retaining wall supporting a roadway width of at least 20 feet
-
Structural design calculations prepared and stamped by a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Colorado
-
Detailed engineering drawings including:
-
Wall geometry and dimensions
-
Anchoring and reinforcement systems
-
Drainage components (if applicable)
-
Full material specifications and quantities
-
Construction planning and execution, including:
-
Mobilization and demobilization of personnel, equipment, and materials
-
Construction sequencing and schedule
-
Site safety and access management
-
Traffic control plan due to roadway location and constrained width conditions
-
Identification and mitigation of impacts to existing utilities and guardrail infrastructure
-
Minimization of site disturbance and excavation
-
Any required rock removal, if encountered, must be performed using non-explosive methods only, clearly described in the proposal
-
Final deliverables shall include:
-
Stamped engineering plans
-
Construction schedule
-
Traffic control plan
-
Materials list and specifications
-
As-built documentation upon completion
