The City of Amesbury through its Department of Public Works is seeking sealed bids for the construction of complete streets improvements along Market Street (Route 150) and South Hampton Road. The project includes the realignment of South Hampton Road, construction of approximately 300 feet of sidewalk, pedestrian curb ramps, vertical granite curbing, full depth pavement, minor drainage improvements, MUTCD compliant pavement markings and signage, and other incidental work. Construction is expected to start August 3, 2026 and be completed by November 25, 2026.
Clearly marked sealed bids will be received at the Amesbury Department of Public Works, 39 South Hunt Road, Amesbury, MA, 01913 on or before Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM, no exceptions. See bid documents described below for requirements of an acceptable bid. Bid opening will follow immediately after in the DPW Conference Room.
The bidding for and award of the Contract for this project are to be in accordance with the requirements of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30 § 39M. MassDOT prequalification of Contractors with the class of work as, Highway–SidewalkandCurbingORHighway–Construction, for the project with an estimated value of $364,335.00 will be required, in accordance with MGL Chapter 81, Section 8B. Bidders are on notice that this project is subject to the schedule of prevailing wage rates as determined by the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Occupational Safety and applicable Federal Regulations.
A non-mandatory Pre-Bid meeting is scheduled for June29,2026at9:00AM at the project site.
The Proposal Guaranty shall be in the form of either cash, bid bond, certified check, bank treasurer’s check, or bank cashier’s check, made payable to the City of Amesbury in the amount of 5% of the value of the bid.

Proposals that do not include a properly completed “Affidavit” pertaining to noncollusion, etc., will be declared non-responsive and not eligible for award consideration. No Bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of thirty days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays after the actual date of the opening of bids.
One original shall be submitted by mail or in-person delivery only. NO faxed or emailed proposals will be accepted. Bids are to be submitted in a SEALED envelope. Late bids will be rejected regardless of the reason for lateness. Bidders assume the risk of delays in the mail and in the handling of the mail by City employees.
