RAD System Evaluation and Pipe Condition Assessment
1. Project Overview
This project aims to evaluate the existing RAD (Radiator) system and provide recommendations for system improvements. The evaluation will include a condition assessment, identification of deficiencies, and development of solution options with cost estimates. Key focus areas include valve replacement, water balancing, and improved zoning.
2. Objectives
• Assess the current condition and performance of the RAD system.
• Identify operational or maintenance issues.
• Evaluate the need for new valves, water balancing, and zoning improvements.
• Provide recommendations and cost estimates for system upgrades.
• Coordinate pipe thickness testing through a third-party vendor.
3. Consultant Responsibilities
3.1 RAD System Evaluation
• Review existing documentation, drawings, and maintenance records.
• Conduct site visits to inspect system components.
• Interview facility staff to understand operational concerns.
• Evaluate system performance, flow, and temperature control.
• Identify visible signs of corrosion, leakage, or inefficiencies.
3.2 System Upgrade Recommendations
• Assess the condition and functionality of existing valves.
• Evaluate the current water balance and zoning layout.
• Recommend replacement of outdated or non-functioning valves.
• Develop a comprehensive water balancing strategy.
• Propose zoning improvements to enhance system efficiency and occupant comfort.
• Provide at least two solution options (e.g., partial vs. full upgrade) with pros/cons and lifecycle considerations.
3.3 Pipe Thickness Testing Coordination
• Assist in defining the scope and locations for pipe thickness testing.
• Coordinate with a third-party testing firm
• Review and interpret the testing results as part of the final report.
4. Exclusions
• Consultant will not perform pipe thickness testing directly.
• Testing services will be subcontracted.
5. Deliverables
• Site visit summary and system condition report.
• Pipe testing coordination plan and summary of results.
• Final report with recommendations and cost estimates.
• Presentation of findings to client stakeholders.
