The James Madison Memorial Building, part of the Library of Congress complex is the national monument to the fourth U.S. president, James Madison. The building opened in 1980, and on the third floor, houses the Mary Pickford Theater. The Moving Image Research Center hosts film screenings at of classic and contemporary movies and television shows. Some components of the current system are inoperable or in need of replacement. In its current capacity, the Pickford Theater also supports lectures, and hybrid meetings in addition to the film screenings. This audiovisual upgrade project will modernize the visual, audio, and infrastructure elements in the theater and its control booth. The architectural integrity of the theater will be preserved, and any upgrades required must not impact the current look and feel of the theater. The theater’ physical design and the two 35mm film projection capabilities must not be altered. Current wall and ceiling penetrations, and cable paths will be re-used to the extent possible. The contractor must identify the need for proposed new surface mounting points, and submit these to the Library for approval, by the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) and the Space Utilization Planning & Design (SUPD) office of the Library. Currently the L. Qunicy Mumford Room of the Library has been upgraded to a Q-SYS control system. The Library will not incorporate any solution that proposes Crestron or AMX automation systems.
The Library seeks a Contractor to remove existing equipment and provide, deliver, and install audiovisual equipment and presentation lecterns for the Mary Pickford Theater at the Library of Congress.
