Seattle Public Utilities owns and maintains two Solid Waste Transfer Stations, three closed landfills (one with partial ownership), and two Moderate-Risk Waste acceptance facilities. The purpose of this contract is to assist SPU with SW Facility operation and maintenance support to help with emerging needs for facility improvements, regulatory assistance and operating guidance. Through this contract, SPU Solid Waste Operations will have direct access to technical support as well as specialized solid waste design services if facility improvements are needed. In particular, this will allow Solid Waste operations to respond more quickly to environmental regulatory requirements and deadlines, which decreases the chance of additional noncompliance, chance of enforcement, and liability.
The work under this contract includes but is not limited to Solid Waste Facility operations and design, civil engineering, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical/controls engineering, architectural design, landscape design, geotechnical engineering, or environmental engineering and design. SPU intends to execute up to 3 on-call contracts with an estimated value of $500k-$1M per contract. The value of each contract may vary and will be determined during negotiations. SPU does not guarantee a specific volume of work under the contracts.
