Forestry and Parks
Request for Proposal
Forestry and Parks leads management of feral horses within the Province. Integral to the proper management of feral horses is to ensure adequate and timely monitoring of populations, trends, and/or compositions. Feral horses are managed at the Equine Management Zone (EMZ) level where population estimates, trends, and compositions are gathered through a variety of scientific survey methodologies.
Attempts are made to conduct surveys yearly to enable sound, science-informed decisions to equine management. Without a continual update to changing feral horse populations, appropriate management decisions cannot be made to ensure the health of rangelands, and sustainable and integrated use of natural resources.
Refer to RFP document for detailed background and scope of work.
