PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the following Ordinance was submitted in writing, introduced, read by title and passed on first reading at a meeting of the Township Committee of the Township of Millburn, in the County of Essex on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The ordinance will be considered for final passage and adoption at the public hearing held at a Township Committee meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at the Millburn Education Center, 434 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, New Jersey when and where or at such time and place to which said meeting may be adjourned, all persons interested will be given an opportunity to be heard concerning said ordinance. The Millburn Education Center will open for this meeting beginning at 6:45PM and details on the meeting and agenda may be located at town hall, on our website https://www.twp.millburn.nj.us/AgendaCenter or by contacting the Municipal Clerk's Office at 973-564-7092.

ORDINANCE NO. 2766-26
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE TOWNSHIP OF MILLBURN TO EXECUTE A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY LEASE FOR THAT CERTAIN PROPERTY LOCATED ON BLOCK 1602 LOT 3 IN THE TOWNSHIP OF MILLBURN

WHEREAS, the Township of Millburn (the “Township”) is the owner of certain real property located on Block 1602, Lot 3, also known as 1 Station Plaza in the Township of Millburn, County of Essex (the “Property”); and

WHEREAS, Millburn-Short Hills Historical Society (“Lessee”) desires to lease the Property in order to establish a headquarters and museum for the Lessee’s programs and membership; and

WHEREAS, the Township Committee seeks to promote and advance the stimulation of interest in the history, architecture, and genealogy of the Millburn-Short Hills geographical area; and

WHEREAS, the Township Committee seeks to compile, catalog and disseminate such information, as well as preserve documents, landmarks, and artifacts relating to same, making them available for research and study; and

WHEREAS, the Township Committee believes it is in the best interest of the Township to enter into a property Lease with Lessee; and

WHEREAS the Township Committee is authorized to lease the Property as set forth in N.J.S.A. 40A:12-14 et seq. and/or by any other provision of applicable law to proceed with the Lease; and

WHEREAS the Township Committee desires to execute the Lease in a manner substantially the same as attached hereto as Exhibit “A”.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Mayor and the Township Committee of the Township of Millburn, County of Essex, State of New Jersey as follows:

1. The Mayor is and be hereby authorized to execute the residential property Lease in a manner substantially the same as attached hereto as Exhibit “A”.

1. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any other documents required to affect the Lease.

1. That all other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

1. That if any part of this Ordinance shall be deemed invalid by an administrative agency or court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the legality and enforceability of any other provision hereof.

1. That this Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication as provided by law.
