NOTICE OF INTENT TO INCLUDE BRAND NAME and BRAND NAME or EQUAL SPECIFICATIONS IN A FUTURE CONTRACT FOR WOLF CREEK POWERHOUSE BRIDGE CRANE REHAB PROJECT

Description(s):

U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS-NASHVILLE DISTRICT'S NOTICE OF INTENT TO INCLUDE BRAND NAME SPECIFICATIONS IN A FUTURE CONTRACT FOR THE WOLF CREEK POWERHOUSE CRANE REHAB, JAMESTOWN, KY– SOLICITATION W912P525R15EQ.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District will be soliciting proposals for a Single Task Order Award Firm Fixed-Price construction to rehab the powerhouse bridge crane. The existing bridge crane is a 250-ton, top-running bridge type with two bridge girders and two trolleys. The following is a list of the major items of work included in this task order but is not limited to:

• Modify personnel access and safety improvements to the bridge crane.


• Replace hoist motor output shaft brake wheel coupling seals.


• Replace hoist brake pads and perform service to restore gap and proper torque.


• Replace all gearbox oil. Repair grease lines.


• Replace main hoist open gear oil.


• Modify bridge and trolley wheel assemblies to replace original wheel bushings with new anti-friction roller bearings. Contractor has option to replace entire wheel and axle assemblies or modify and reuse existing wheel and axle.


• Perform inspection, load testing and painting of below-the-hook lifting devices.


• Upgrade all VFD's to Magnetek Series 5 VFD's.


• Provide new fourth conductor bar that will be used as a ground.


• Collector will be modified to connect to the fourth conductor bar.


• Provide new operator's chair, radio controllers, hoist encoders, and bridge crane lights.


• Provide load cell devices and displays for main and aux hoist, new limit switches for trolley and bridge travel.


• Provide new tool hoist and personnel rescue hoist.


• Perform operational testing of all features of the crane and 100% and 125% load tests.


• Provide new O&M Manual. Manual to integrate all documentation from the existing crane manual and function as a solo comprehensive manual of the crane.


• Provide new main and auxiliary lower load block assemblies.


• Provide new main and auxiliary upper sheaves and pins.


• Provide new main hoist lifting beam, rotor lifting device, and turbine shaft lifting device.

For the purposes described herein, the USACE Nashville District intends to issue a competitive solicitation that will include the brand name and brand name or equal items listed below:

The rational for selecting brand name and brand name or equal is to maintain consistency with the plans and specifications that were issued with prior work at the Wolf Creek Dam project.

This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. All responsible sources may identify their interest and submit clearly articulated product information. Product information provided will be considered solely at the discretion of the Government. Reponses must be received by May 30, 2025 to be considered.
