Dudley Shoals Elementary School
Access Road and Parking Construction Project
The Caldwell County Board of Education is soliciting sealed bids from qualified contractors for
the construction of a new access road and parking area at Dudley Shoals Elementary School,
located in Granite Falls, North Carolina.
Project Description
* The project consists of the construction of approximately 1,706 linear feet of new
asphalt access road, associated grading and earthwork, parking area construction,
circular turnaround, pavement markings, and related site improvements. Work must be
completed prior to August 10, 2026
Scope of Work
The work includes, but is not limited to, the following:
* Construction of approximately 1,706 linear feet of new asphalt access road.
* Grading and earthwork required for roadway construction and appropriate drainage.
Locate utilities as necessary.
* Hauling, placement, and compaction of fill dirt available within one-half (12) mile of the
project site.
* Construction of approximately:
o 1,155 linear feet of 15-foot-wide roadway.
o 551 linear feet of 30-foot-wide roadway.
* Construction of an adjacent asphalt parking area measuring approximately 108 feet by
42 feet.
* Construction of a circular turnaround with an approximate circumference of 236 feet.
* Add a connection to the existing front parking lot...right turn only
* Installation of pavement markings and striping for the revised traffic pattern.
* Construction of all improvements to support regular passenger vehicle traffic and
occasional heavy emergency vehicles in accordance with North Carolina Department of
Transportation (NCDOT) standards and applicable regulations.

Pre-Bid Meeting
A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 9:00 a.m. at Dudley
Shoals Elementary School. Interested bidders are encouraged to attend to review the project
scope, site conditions, and requirements.
Bid Submission
Sealed bids must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1st
Bids may be mailed or hand delivered to:

The outside of the sealed envelope shall be clearly marked:

Late bids will not be accepted.
Contractor Requirements
The successful bidder shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, and incidentals
necessary to complete the project in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local
laws and regulations.
Contractors shall possess all licenses required by the State of North Carolina and maintain
insurance coverage as required by law.
Each bid shall include:
* A completed bid proposal.
* A lump sum price for the project.
* A proposed construction schedule.
* North Carolina contractor license information.
* Proof of insurance
