Overview
Summary

General work description:

The project involves the replacement of luminaires (light heads) on existing historic light poles in downtown South San Francisco. The scope focuses on the removal and replacement of the existing light heads on Grand Avenue from Airport boulevard to Spruce Avenue, and on Linden Avenue from Airport Avenue to Railroad Avenue. The historic light poles are to remain protected in place, with no modifications to their structure, ensuring the preservation of their historic integrity.

The scope of work also includes:

  • Replacement of the existing light heads on the alley connecting Grand Avenue to the Miller Avenue parking garage.
  • Replacement of the existing light heads and poles at the playground located at the eastern end of Pine Avenue.

The Project Plans provided in the bid package are diagrammatic and intended to outline the overall design scope. The selected contractor shall be responsible for engaging a qualified electrical designer as part of a design-build team to complete the electrical and lighting details. The contractor must ensure that the final design complies with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and performance requirements, and that all necessary calculations and design details are included.

The project also includes a bid alternative: Relocating one pole and luminaries from the northwest corner of Linden and Railroad Ave to the north corner of Grand Avenue and Spruce Avenue.

The engineer’s estimate for this work (Base Bid) is $950,000. Detailed scope of work is included in the bid documents.

The Contractor shall be responsible to furnish all labor, material, tools, equipment, incidentals and services necessary to complete all the work as specified and in accordance with the plans and specifications.
