Tree Debris and Removal related to USDA NRCS EWP 5060
Description:
The work to be performed under this contract generally includes the removal, chipping, and
hauling chips to dispose of stream debris of approximately 95 trees of around 8-18 inches in
diameter, and approximately 40 trees of less than 8 inches in diameter deposited in the
waters and along the shores of Shaw Brook during the flood event of July 2023, under the
direction of the Hamilton County Soil & Water Conservation Service. The planned work area
is located beginning at 1150 Main St., Long Lake, NY 12847. The Town of Long Lake will
provide a site for disposal of the wood chips to which the contractor shall haul said chips.
The Town of Long Lake will be responsible for obtaining all permits, permission, and
cooperation of relevant agencies and/or other stakeholders necessary for removal and
disposal of the tree debris.
This project is supported by funding from the United States Department of Agriculture
Natural Resources Conservation Service Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program,
and with the cooperation of the Town of Long Lake, Town of Long Lake Highway Department,
Hamilton County Department of Public Works, and the Hamilton County Soil & Water
Conservation District.
