City of Ypsilanti Freighthouse Floor Historic Rehabilitation

The City of Ypsilanti (“City”) is issuing this Request for Proposals from hardwood flooring contractors experienced in applying the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Properties and the Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings (”Standards and Guidelines”).

The City owns and manages the Freighthouse, an event space and community center that was built in 1878 and is part of the Ypsilanti Historic District and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Freighthouse floor requires cleaning and repair to mitigate trip hazards and unevenness that have formed over time, and possibly protection from future damage. This work must follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation of Historic Properties and the Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings.
