Senior Congregate Nutrition

Pierce County’s Aging & Disability Resources Division (ADR) is seeking proposals from eligible and qualified organizations to help older adults maintain their quality of life and age-in-place by addressing their nutritional needs through the receipt of congregate nutrition services.

ADR seeks a maximum of four (4) successful applicants to provide services at seventeen (17) meal site locations throughout Pierce County.

Pierce County’s ADR Division serves as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for Pierce County and administers federal and state funds in partnership with local community organizations. The Senior Congregate Nutrition Program is one of the aging network services funded by federal and state dollars. The purpose of these federal and state funded nutrition programs is to reduce hunger and food insecurity, encourage socialization of older individuals, promote health and well-being, and delay the onset of adverse health conditions.

The Senior Congregate Nutrition Program provides the opportunity for older adults to receive a nutritionally balanced meal, socialize with their peers, receive resource information, and participate in activities to promote overall health and well-being. Those who participate in this program will have improved food and nutrient intake, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, and better nutritional status.
