Johnson Street and I-95 Drainage Culvert (Project No. 24-11064)

The interim project concept consists of:
· Raising the top of bank of the FDOT I-95 ditch along its eastern perimeter at a height sufficient to contain the runoff from exiting the ditch into the neighborhood (approx. 5 ft-NAVD.)
· Re-grading the FDOT ditch in between the trees south of Johnson to provide some additional storage and conveyance path to the north to the new culvert.
· Installing a new equivalent large culvert under Johnson Street and a canal to provide a positive outfall from the FDOT I-95 ditch to the City’s drainage system in the Sunset Park area.

This CIP area is characterized residential land use. Pockets of low areas collect runoff and flood as water sheet Ilows from surrounding higher areas in the east and off of I-95, and there is an undersized positive system with an undersized SWPS serving the area. Runoff from the City and FDOT enters the shared FDOT storage ditch which is undersized and has no positive outfall along the eastern edge of I-95 at its southern end, Iills, and spills over into the neighborhood near Fillmore, Pierce, and Lincoln streets, and floods the area.
