TO BIDDERS AND PLAN HOLDERS ON THE ABOVE REFERENCED PROJECT: PLEASE NOTE CONTENTS HEREIN AND INCLUDE, SIGNED, WITH YOUR BID SUBMISSION.

NOTICE

It will be required that this addendum be signed in acknowledgment of receipt and that it be included with your Bid when same is submitted to Alisha Sadler, Contracts Specialist, Bureau of Design and Construction, 3800 Commonwealth Blvd., MS #520, Tallahassee, Florida, 32399-3000. Failure to do so may be grounds for rejection of the Bid.

The following statements supersede & supplement the corresponding items in the specifications & drawings:

  1. Question: Can entire parking lot be closed during construction for staging of dumpsters and materials?

Answer: Yes, the parking lot will be closed and will also be designated as the contractors lay down area. Site security is the contractor’s responsibility.

2. Question: Does permit allow equipment to be driven on the beach?

Answer: No equipment is to be driven on the beach.

3. Question: Is a MOT plan required?

Answer: An MOT plan is not required. However, site security is the contractor’s responsibility.

4.  Question: Can we assume the stairs and bridge in parking lot will be the same type construction details as boardwalk as they are not provided in plans?

Answer: The details on plan sheet S-102 are applicable to the stairs and crossing in the parking lot. In general, the construction type is the same as the boardwalk.

5. Question: Can we store material for the day to the right or left of the entrance to the boardwalk covering up or mowing down existing vegetation?

Answer: The contractor cannot store material on the side of the boardwalk or the side of the road. A lay down area in the parking lot will be provided to store materials. Site security will be the contractor’s responsibility.

6. Question: Pages S-6 Pile split repair detail - Calls for .30" thick SS strap. .30" SS strap will not bend around an 8" diameter pile. This strap must be smaller gauge.

Answer: 0.03” thick banding is the correct thickness for the straps.

Process Provided per specs?- please confirm/ clarify - (Process listed is correct.)

1. Install modified bitumen

2. Install 3/4 "ss straps

3. Cover with 28-gauge flashing

4.  Secure flashing with ss nails or screws

Question: At what point do we replace a pile vs repair?  The repair looks more costly than replacing the pile.

Answer: The contractor shall inspect all piles after removing the existing superstructure and submit a summary of piles that require repair. The bid should include a unit price per pile repaired or replaced. The bid should assume a maximum of 10 piles will require repair and 3 piles will require full replacement.

7. Question: Page C-2 Note - ACQ treatment has not been used for years as it was proven not to hold up CCA.60 has become the standard. Is this an acceptable alternate?

Answer: CCA 0.6 would be an acceptable alternative treatment.

8. Question: Page S-1 - Notes - Is the contractor to supply a PE to inspect piles for excessive cracking? At what point do we replace a pile vs repair?

Answer: A PE is not required for the inspection. The owner will review the inspection findings and repair recommendations and provide directions on which piles are to be repaired.

Question: This cannot be determined until after the removal of decking and framing. Therefore, it is difficult to provide a lump sum bid.

Answer: The bid should include a separate unit price per pile repaired or replaced. The bid should assume a maximum of 10 piles will require repair and 3 piles will require full replacement.

9. Question: Piling inspections leading to repairs or replacement, will the amount for the repairs and/or replacements be factored into the bid or will that be a separate change order, as needed?

Answer: The contractor shall inspect all piles after removing the existing superstructure and submit a summary of piles that require repair. The bid should include a unit price per pile repaired or replaced. The bid should assume a maximum of 10 piles will require repair and 3 piles will require full replacement.

10. Question: Due to gopher tortoise burrows in the area, will there need to be a locate done?  Who will be responsible for it and any relocations that may be necessary in order to perform the repairs?

Answer: Gopher Tortoise on site will be FDEP responsibility.

11. Question: Does the substantial completion timeframe of 90 days include repairs and/or replacement of any pilings?

Answer: Yes, timeframe includes pile repairs/replacements.

12. Question: Would the entire parking lot be closed during the construction period?

Answer: Yes, the parking lot will be closed and will also be designated as the contractors lay down area. Site security is the contractor’s responsibility.

13. Question: What material does the wire mesh fencing along the boardwalk need to be?  Galvanized or Stainless Steel?

Answer: Galvanized

14. Question: Will the wire mesh continue along the stairs to the parking lot and the ditch crossing?

Answer: Yes, wire mesh is required on stairs and ditch crossing. The details on Sheet S102 are applicable to these structures.

In all other respects, the contract documents of which this is an Addendum, and attachments relative thereto, shall remain in full force and effect.
