The City of Clayton is accepting sealed bids for the Hanley House Masonry Repairs and Waterproofing Project. Bids will be received by the City of Clayton Director of Parks and Recreation, 50 Gay Avenue, Clayton, MO 63105, until 2:00 P.M. CDT, on Monday, December 22, 2025. The bids will then be publicly opened and read aloud at The Center of Clayton, Meeting Room C at 2:05 P.M.
Project Overview
This project involves the restoration and preservation of the exterior masonry of the historic Hanley House, located in Clayton, Missouri, including its adjacent kitchen house. The Hanley House is a two-story brick residence built circa 1876, with significant historical value. The scope includes professional tuckpointing, selective brick replacement, and application of a breathable waterproof sealant across approximately 3,200 square feet of exterior wall surface on the main house, as well as all exposed masonry on the kitchen house. The goal is to maintain the structural integrity and historical character of the buildings while protecting them from further weather-related deterioration.
The City intends to issue a Notice to Proceed on or before January 15, 2026.
Bid documents will be available from the city’s website: www.claytonmo.gov/bids starting Monday, November 17, 2025.
An option pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 11:00am to 12 noon. The meeting will take place at Hanley House Pavilion, 7600 Westmoreland Ave, Clayton, MO 63105.
Questions regarding this project should be directed to Justin Whipple, Superintendent of Parks, City of Clayton. All questions shall be submitted in writing via email to jwhipple@claytonmo.gov . No questions will be accepted after 5:00 PM on Monday, December 15, 2025.
Not less than the prevailing hourly rate of wages shall be paid to all workmen performing under this contract in this area according to the rates determined by the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations of the State of Missouri.
A bid security in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid amount must accompany each bid in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
The City reserves the right to accept or reject any bid and waive any irregularities in the best interest of the City.
