Winfree Cottage Renovation

The City of Richmond is accepting bids for general contracting services for the Winfree Cottage Renovation project which includes preparing the new site, restoring the historic structure, and constructing an additional structure attached to the original cottage. The project requires precise restoration techniques to maintain the integrity of the structure while abiding by modern construction standards to ensure long-term usability and sustainability. This project does not include moving the cottage to the new site.

Winfree Cottage is historically significant to Richmond and the greater area as the cottage was home to Emily Winfree whose life spanned 85 years before, during, and after the Civil War. The City is dedicated to preserving this piece of history by moving it to a location where it can be renovated and maintained as a site offering the opportunity for residents to learn about the life of Emily Winfree and her contemporaries.
